IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts to MS Dhoni quitting as CSK captain ahead of IPL 15

MS Dhoni led CSK to IPL title four times- 2010,2011,2018 and 2021.

The mercurial MS Dhoni shocked the cricketing world as he decided the time was right for him to quit as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise and pass the leadership to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as they prepare to defend their title in the IPL 2022.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is set to commence on March 26 with the game between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” CSK’s official website confirmed the news.

Jadeja will become only the third player to captain CSK after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina and only the second player to lead CSK in a full-time capacity.

MS Dhoni has certainly created a huge legacy as a captain in the IPL since its inception in 2008. He has led the CSK team to IPL title wins in 2010,2011, 2018, and 2021. Dhoni has a winning percentage of over 59% as CSK captain.

Not only this, but Dhoni took his side in the record nine IPL finals in the tournament history.

Today, as he stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings captain, the cricket fraternity lauded MS Dhoni’s legacy as the leader of the yellow army.
