Australia pacer Andrew Tye will replace England fast bowler Mark Wood in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) line-up for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Wood has been ruled out of the cash-rich league after sustaining a right elbow injury during the first Test between England and West Indies in Antigua. He was bought for INR 7.50 crores at the IPL 2022 mega-auction last month.

“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed Andrew Tye as a replacement for the injured England pacer Mark Wood for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Wood suffered an elbow injury during England’s first Test against West Indies earlier this month,” IPL said in an official release.

“The right-arm pacer, who has so far played 27 IPL matches & has picked 40 wickets, will join LSG for the price of INR 1 Crore,” the statement added.

Andrew Tye has represented Australia in 32 T20Is and claimed 47 wickets.

Lucknow Super Giants will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
