Indian batter, Shubman Gill, has named the player who can be an X-factor for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), starting on March 26 in Mumbai.

The right-hander was earlier released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, where the Gujarat Titans (GT) managed to draft the young gun for Rs 8 crores.

He is now looking forward to leaving his mark and providing ample support to the Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, Hardik Pandya, in the upcoming IPL 2022.

He also named his former KKR teammate Lockie Ferguson as a huge X-factor for the Gujarat Titans (GT) and is confident of him doing great in the IPL 15.

Shubman told NDTV during an interaction with media: “Yeah, I think Lockie Ferguson, when we were in Kolkata Knight Riders, he was a huge asset for us and I am sure he is going to be a huge X-factor for us in the Gujarat Titans squad. Like you asked me, if I will be able to help Hardik, yes if he is willing to ask me for advice, obviously I will help him in any situation.”

On being asked whether he sees himself as a part of the leadership group, the young batter said: “Obviously it feels great to be part of this setup. Unfortunately, I was not retained by KKR but it felt great to be picked up by Gujarat Titans. I have not gotten in touch with Hardik Pandya or Ashish Nehra because I have been in quarantine. As soon as I get out, we will get our plans sorted and I will have much more clarity on my role both individually and for the team as well.”

Notably, the IPL 2022 will kick off on March 26 with a big clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, while Gujarat Titans will begin their campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants on March 28.
