Shreyas Iyer was bought by KKR a hefty sum of INR 12.25 crores.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Pat Cummins talked about the team’s new skipper Shreyas Iyer. He recalled playing with him at Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and called him a ‘calm guy’.
KKR acquired the services of Shreyas Iyer at the IPL 2022 auction at a hefty sum of INR 12.25 crores. The two-time champions then later announced him as their skipper. The 27-year-old will captain the likes of Aaron Finch, Pat Cummins, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer.
Iyer, who earlier had captained Delhi Capitals, will be coming on the back of terrific performances for Team India. The KKR skipper smashed three consecutive half-centuries in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and scored 204 runs at a staggering strike rate of 174.35. He then later played a pivotal role in the Test series as well.

Pat Cummins, who was bought by KKR for INR 7.25 crores, said that he had shared the dressing room with ‘calm guy’ Shreyas Iyer at Delhi Daredevils. He expressed his excitement in joining the team and lauded management for buying back the core players at auction.
“Shreyas, I played with at Delhi(Daredevils), we got on really well. He’s seem like a very calm guy and seems in form at the moment. I’m so excited to go over there, I have some close friends I will be playing alongside, can’t wait. Really excited. It’s been great that most of the squad has been able to kept together. So, most of the players and staff know really really well,” Pat Cummins said.

While talking about MCC's rule change on saliva ban, the Australian Test captain said that it won’t affect the performance of swing bowlers as they currently use sweat and deliver well.
“I don’t think so (permanent saliva ban will hamper the performance of the swing bowlers). I don’t think it has made a huge effect, as big as we might have thought it would. We can still use sweat so it’s not too big a deal," he said.
Apart from the saliva ban, the MCC also moved Mankad dismissal from Unfair play to Run out. They also made a change in which a new batter will take the strike even if the players have crossed. The new laws will be applicable from 1st October.
Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the tournament opener on March 26.
