Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer expressed his excitement to meet co-owner Shahrukh Khan. He admitted that when he meets him he might go crazy as he has admired him for a long time.

KKR shelled out a hefty sum of INR 12.25 crores for Shreyas Iyer at the IPL 2022 auction. The right-hander then was later appointed as the captain of the franchise for the upcoming season.

Iyer had earlier captained Delhi Capitals and his track record was impressive for the franchise as led the team to their first final in IPL 2020. The 27-year-old will be coming into the IPL on the back of terrific performances for Team India.

Speaking during a press conference, Shreyas Iyer said that he’s looking forward to meeting co-owner Shah Rukh Khan as he has always admired him and he has been his motivating factor.

"I haven’t interacted with (Shah Rukh Khan). I am really looking forward to that moment because he has always been one of the motivating factors to me especially. Because whenever I get a break or (during) free time I love to see his interviews and I love to see the spark which he brings to the industry,” Shreyas Iyer said.

Iyer talked about the impact Bollywood star has on the players of KKR. He said that he’s eagerly waiting and might go crazy when he meets Shah Rukh Khan

"And also whenever he is there present at the stadium, the support that he offers to the team is simply outstanding to see it from outside. Yeah, I am really eager and just waiting, counting on the time…whenever I’ll get that opportunity to meet him, I’ll go a bit crazy I feel,” he said.

Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the tournament opener on March 26.
