Ravi Shastri is set to make a comeback as commentator | GettyThe Indian Premier League (IPL) is widely deemed as the most popular cricket tournament across the globe, and this year the craze of the cash-rich event will go to a different level with the addition of two new teams.

Apart from the top cricketers of the world exhibiting their skills in IPL 2022, the commentary panel for this season will be an elite one. It is learnt that former CSK batter Suresh Raina is all set for his commentary debut in IPL 2022, while ex-India coach Ravi Shastri will make his comeback as commentator.

According to a report published in Jagran.com, Raina will be doing the job for Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL. Notably, the southpaw went unsold at the IPL 2022 mega-auction last month despite his rich experience in CSK’s multiple IPL triumphs over the years.

As for Ravi Shastri, he will return to the commentary box after five years. He was appointed India’s full-time coach in 2017 before being re-appointed in the role in 2019. His tenure came to an end after the T20 World Cup in November 2021.

As per Jagran.com, Shastri will be doing commentary in the Hindi language. It is worth mentioning here that the former India all-rounder has over 20 years of experience as an English commentator.

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway on March 26 with the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

A total of 70 league matches will be played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue for the playoff matches will be decided later.
