Chahar had suffered a quadriceps tear injury during the third T20I against West Indies last month.
During the mega-auction last month, CSK roped in some prominent names like Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, Deepak Chahar, Shivam Dube, and Chris Jordan.
MS Dhoni will continue to lead the franchise, which had retained him ahead of the auction along with three other players – Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
With less than a month to go for the IPL 15, the Super Kings also have heaved a sigh of relief with the news coming that pacer Deepak Chahar won’t have to undergo surgery and will be available to take part in the cash-rich league.
Chahar had suffered a quadriceps tear injury during the third T20I against West Indies last month and a TOI report suggests that the CSK pacer is likely to be fit to play by mid-April.
As per the report, Chahar is currently undergoing an eight-week rehabilitation programme at the NCA in Bangalore. But the Chennai-based franchise, which has already started its preparations for the IPL 2022, wants the pacer to join their camp in Surat sometime in the next couple of weeks.
The report states that the franchise wants to monitor Chahar’s fitness and get him ready to play as soon as possible. Notably, the pace-bowling all-rounder was bought by CSK for a hefty sum of INR 14 crore at the auction.
After the initial MRI scans, it was suggested that Chahar should undergo surgery. However, he decided against it with the T20 World Cup slated to be held in Australia later this year.
Had he undergone the surgery, Chahar would have been out for a longer duration and may have failed to make it into the T20 World Cup squad. Later, the eight-week rehab was recommended, which came as a relief for the Chennai Super Kings.
