England opener Jason Roy has reportedly pulled out of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) citing bio-bubble fatigue. He was bought by new franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) for INR 2 crore at the IPL Auction.

Roy had informed the franchise of his decision last week, as per a ESPNCricinfo report. Titans are yet to finalize a replacement for the batter who was expected to form a partnership with Shubman Gill at the top of the innings.

The 31-year-old, who has previously played for Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the cash-rich T20 league, was in fine form with the bat for Quetta Gladiators in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022), scoring over 300 runs in six matches at a strike-rate over 170.

Roy was blessed with his second child in January and recently toured West Indies for a T20I series with England, apart from the PSL stint. Playing in the IPL would mean more than two months in the bio-bubble which perhaps resulted in a change of mind from the batter about his participation.

Titans, who will be led by Hardik Pandya in their maiden IPL season, will now have to search for an opening partner for Gill, although they have the option of Australia's wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade.
