Shivam Dube has been bought by Chennai Super Kings at a price of INR 4 crore.
Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 4 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega-auction. Dube, who is known for his power-hitting, was delighted to be picked by the CSK franchise.
But even before the 28-year-old was roped in by the four-time IPL champions for INR 4 crore, he already had a memorable week. Dube and his wife were blessed with a baby boy, Ayaan on Wednesday (February 9) and he believes his son brought good luck for him.
“I believe in destiny and this is all my baby’s good luck rubbing off on me. After marriage, you get good luck from your wife and once you are a parent, it’s all about your child,” he told mid-day.
Dube is eager to play under one of the most successful captains, MS Dhoni. He called it a 'dream come true' moment for him. “I’m looking forward to playing under Dhoni and do well at CSK. I’ve always wanted to play under a captain like MS and I’m glad that my dream has been fulfilled today,” he added.
The Mumbai all-rounder further spoke that he wants to learn how to perform under pressure from Dhoni, who has done it several times against top-quality opponents.
"MS is known for his calm and confident attitude and leadership qualities. He is a good mentor too and always guides new players to help them give their best. I want to learn how to perform in pressure situations from him. I am ready to bat at any position that MS wants, even as an opener," he said.
Dube is currently in a bio-bubble with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team for the upcoming season. The Prithvi Shaw-led side will take on defending champions Saurashtra in their Ranji opener from February 17.
"Our first target is to win this match [against Saurashtra]. We will first look at qualifying for the knockout phase and then, hopefully, go for the title again. Mumbai [41-time Ranji champs] last won the title in 2016, so the Ranji crown is our ultimate goal. I hope I can perform well and eventually make it back to the Indian team," Dube said, who could only spend a day with his newborn son before joining the Ranji side.
