The likes of Alex Hales, Rassie van der Dussen went unsold.
The New Zealand duo of Finn Allen and Devon Conway got bidders. Allen went to RCB for INR 80 lakhs, while CSK bought Conway for his base price of INR 1 crore.
However, then the likes of Alex Hales, Evin Lewis, and Karun Nair went unsold to the surprise of many.
West Indies hard-hitter Rovman Powell got a bidding war going for him with LSG, CSK, and DC going after him. Delhi Capitals won the race with a bid of INR 2.80 crores.
Rassie van der Dussen and Charith Asalanka also went unsold, but England’s Jofra Archer got the accelerated auction on fire, as Mumbai Indians went after him, outbidding Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in a bidding war.
This is despite Archer not being available for the IPL 2022 edition as the BCCI had informed the franchises in advance, that the fast bowler will play from IPL 2023 onwards. MI spent INR 8 crores to get Archer in their camp, which can be called a good investment.
