IPL 2022 Auction: India U19 stars Yash Dhull, Hangargekar, and Raj Bawa successfully attract bidders

Yash Dhull led India to U19 World Cup win in the recently concluded ICC tournament.

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have invested heavily in international stars and it was time to go after the budding Indian cricketers after the lunch break on Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. 

The set 17 of uncapped all-rounders featured India U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull, his teammate Raj Bawa, and Ravardhan Hangargekar. Anukul Roy, Mahipal Lomror, and Lalit Yadav, who has played in the previous IPL seasons, were also up for grab.

Delhi Capitals (DC) showed good interest in the youngsters, picking up three players from the uncapped all-rounder's category, including Yash Dhull. So did Mumbai Indians (MI), who got two players from the set.

N Tilak Varma found Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Mumbai Indians (MI) bidding for him. After a bit of bidding battle with CSK, MI secured Varma for INR 1.7 crore.

The bidding for Raj Bawa jumped to two crores from his base price of INR 20 lakh after Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai, and Hyderabad engaged in a bidding war for him. Punjab got him at INR 2 crore eventually; making him the highest-paid player from the set 17.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar (India) [Base price: 30 lakh] SOLD to CSK for INR 1.5 crore
Sanjay Yadav (India) [Base price: 20 lakh] SOLD to MI for INR 50 lakh
Vicky Ostwal (India) [Base price: 20 lakh] UNSOLD

The next set was that of the uncapped bowlers' list. Out of this only Yash Dayal was bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 3.20 crores and Simarjeet Singh was bought by Chennai Super Kings for his base price of INR 20 lakhs.
