Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter AB de Villiers said that he regrets his dress code when he proposed to his wife Danielle at the iconic Taj Mahal during IPL 2012.

AB de Villiers has received huge support from fans in India. Not only in IPL but even when he played for South Africa again in India, the former Proteas skipper received warm reception everywhere he played.

From time to time he has talked about his special connection with Bengaluru and has even called the state his ‘second home’. De Villiers joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2012 and was with them since last year.

During IPL 2012, De Villiers proposed to his girlfriend Danielle Swart at the Taj Mahal. They then tied the knot in 2013 and are blessed with two sons and a daughter.

Speaking on the RCB podcast, AB de Villiers talked about the regret he has from the time when he proposed to his wife at the Taj Mahal. He recalled how he was dressed that day and said that the jeans he wore that time are now being used as pajamas by him.

"I have a regret - my dress code that day. I look back and feel like - what was I wearing? What kind of jeans are they? It’s like these light, patchy jeans with a big bottom. I still have the shirt. My wife wouldn’t let me get rid of it, so I use it as pajamas nowadays," Ab de Villiers said.

AB de Villiers further revealed that he had planned to propose his wife in advance at the Taj Mahal as there’s no more romantic spot than it and further talked about his preparations.

"I planned it way in advance. I thought there’s no more romantic spot than the Taj Mahal. It took a bit of planning. We had a big win the night before and I remember celebrating till 2-3 am. It was a bit of a tonk the next day. We were exhausted when we flew to Delhi. But it was an unbelievable trip," he said.

AB de Villiers in November last year, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The swashbuckling batter was an internal part of RCB and is the second-highest run-getter for the franchise with 4491 runs to his name, only behind Virat Kohli, who has 6283.
