England pacer Jofra Archer entered his name for the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction which will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the same to all the franchises on Tuesday (February 1). The Barbados-born England spearhead has given himself a base price of INR 2 crores.

However, there is a caveat with Archer in the IPL 2022 mega auction, as the BCCI has informed the franchises that the pacer’s involvement in the IPL 2022 is in doubt owing to his ongoing recovery from the elbow surgery.

His name has been added to the auction because the England and Wales Cricket (ECB) informed the BCCI that he is sure to play in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The BCCI also told the franchises, that they will not get a replacement player if they pick Jofra Archer and he misses the tournament due to his injury status.

"The ECB has registered Archer for the auction with a view to potential participation in 2023 and 2024, as due to his current injury it is unlikely that he can participate in IPL 2022," the BCCI wrote to the franchises providing a list of 44 new names to the that have been added to the auction register on the request of the franchises.

"He won't feature in the Marquee or other sets to be presented. He will be available to be called during the accelerated auction and whoever picks him will not get a replacement player for IPL 2022 season for his place as he is already injured and unlikely to participate in IPL 2022 season," the BCCI wrote.

Archer is the lone new inclusion from England. Another notable addition is Usman Khawaja, who has enlisted his name at the base price of INR 1.5 crores.

The new list of 44 new additions includes one from Afghanistan, five more from Australia, 11 from India, two from Ireland, six from New Zealand, two from Scotland, four more from Sri Lanka and West Indies each, and seven more from South Africa, including Andile Phehlukwayo.

Also, the BCCI informed the franchises that the auction process, "will commence with the Marquee Set followed by a full round of Capped players by specialism -- Batsmen, All-rounders, Wicket Keeper/Batsmen, Fast Bowlers, and Spin Bowlers and then move into a full specialism round of Uncapped players."

Further, it has been informed that the accelerated process will begin after Player No 161 in the revised register.

"For your planning purposes please note, subject to timings it is envisaged that the accelerated process will start after player no.161. The first accelerated process will cover all the players from 162 - 590. Franchises will be asked to nominate a set number of players from this group by 10 pm on the evening of 12th February," the BCCI e-mail stated.

"Once these players (162-590) have been presented, franchises will be requested to submit the names of players (unpresented / unsold) from all those on the full list of 590 for further accelerated presentation. This will be covered in more detail at the auction briefing on 11th February 2022,” the mail added.
