IPL 2022 mega auction will take place in Bangalore on 12th and 13th February.
The countdown for the IPL 2022 mega auction has started. The event will take place in Bangalore on February 12 and 13. A total of 1,214 players have registered themselves, among which 896 are Indians and 318 are overseas players.
With just a few days remaining for the IPL 2022 mega auction, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that he won’t be surprised if South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock fetches more money than other overseas openers in the IPL 2022 auction.
Aakash Chopra’s comments came following Quinton de Kock’s match-winning hundred against India in the third ODI in Cape Town. The wicketkeeper-batter troubled Indian bowlers throughout the three-match series and smashed them all over the park. The southpaw ended the series as the leading run-scorer with 229 runs to his name. He was also awarded the Player of the Series.

Taking to his official Twitter account, Aakash Chopra said that Quinton de Kock can become the most expensive opening batter in the IPL 2022 auction.
“I won’t be surprised if QDK goes for most money amongst overseas openers…it’s an elite list, mind you. Warner, Bairstow, Faf, Lewis, Finch and more. #IPL2022,” Aakash Chopra Tweeted.
Notably, Quinton de Kock was a part of Mumbai Indians since 2019. The wicketkeeper batter played an instrumental role in the franchise’s title winning run in 2019 and 2020. However, he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 auction as they went in for Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard from their 2021 squad.
