West Indies great Chris Gayle has not registered for the IPL 2022 mega-auction. The BCCI on Saturday (January 22) revealed that a total of 1,214 players have registered for the upcoming mega auction.
Gayle was part of Punjab Kings in the last season and he had pulled out in the middle of the IPL 2021. Gayle had expressed his desire to mentally refresh himself in Dubai before representing the West Indies in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Apart from Punjab, the 42-year-old played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in the cash-rich league. His power-hitting and explosive batting as an opener made him popular among the fans.
Fans were disappointed to find out Gayle won't be available in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Gayle had played the T20 World Cup 2021 for West Indies.
Earlier, the former South African batter AB de Villiers had also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, having already quit international cricket.
