The new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise from Lucknow on Tuesday (January 4) made their presence felt on social media, asking fans to suggest a good name for the team.

The IPL 2022 will feature 10 teams, with the addition of two new franchises based in Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

While the two new teams haven't revealed their names or unveiled their logo yet, the Lucknow-based franchise is already grabbing headlines by acquiring a star-studded coaching set-up, including former India opener Gautam Gambhir and Zimbabwe legend Andy Flower.

The Lucknow IPL team also made a grand debut on Twitter, garnering a lot of followers and a blue tick after providing a few updates.

"Welcome to the official Twitter profile of Lucknow IPL team," the franchise posted in a tweet, before welcoming Gambhir and Flower in the set-up.

Gambhir also welcomed the Lucknow team on the micro-blogging site as he tweeted, "Hindustan, Swagat karo Lucknow ka!"

The Lucknow franchise was bought by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG) in October last year for approximately ₹7000 crore (over 932 million USD).

In IPL 2016 and 2017, the RPSG group had owned the Rising Pune Supergiant team. They were successful in reaching the final of IPL 2017, after failing to make it to the playoffs in IPL 2016.
