IPL 2022: Lucknow based franchise rope in Vijay Dahiya as assistant coach

The new Lucknow-based IPL franchise has appointed former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as their assistant coach ahead of IPL 2022. Being one of the two new IPL franchises, Lucknow, which is owned by Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group, has started its preparations for IPL 2022.

Days after naming Andy Flower as their head coach and Gautam Gambhir as their mentor, the franchise roped in former KKR and Delhi Capitals coach Vijay Dahiya as their assistant coach.

Vijay Dahiya is currently the coach for the Uttar Pradesh state team and has also coached the Delhi Ranji Trophy team. The Haryana-born coach also carries IPL experience as he has served as the assistant coach for two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Apart from this he also has worked as the talent scout for the Delhi Capitals (DC). 

Talking about his appointment as the assistant coach of the Lucknow IPL franchise, Vijay Dahiya said that he’s delighted and grateful for the opportunity.

"I am delighted and grateful for the opportunity given to me to work with the Lucknow IPL franchise," Vijay Dahiya said in a statement.
