IPL 2022: Dale Steyn approached to become Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach- Report

Hemang Badani has been roped in as new batting coach by SRH, as per report.

Reports have suggested, that former South African pacer bowler Dale Steyn has been approached with an offer by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to become their bowling coach ahead of the upcoming IPL 2022 season.  

Steyn, who has played 95 IPL games, had announced retirement from all forms of cricket, including franchise competitions, earlier in August. If everything goes fine, SRH is expected to make an official announcement next week.

The Orange franchise needs new personnel in the coaching staff after head coach Trevor Bayliss and batting coach Brad Haddin quit after the IPL 2021 edition. The franchise also lost its mentor VVS Laxman, who took up a job with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as the new chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Tom Moody, who was SRH director of cricket, has been reportedly named the head coach as well by the franchise for the IPL 2022.

Regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time with 439 wickets in 93 Tests at an average of 22.95, Steyn played 95 matches in IPL and picked 97 wickets in his career. He turned out for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Deccan Chargers, Gujarat Lions, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the league.

The Cricbuzz report also stated that SRH has roped in former India and Tamil Nadu batter Hemang Badani as their new batting coach for the IPL 2022 edition.

The SRH retained Kane Williamson, Umran Malik, and Abdul Samad ahead of the mega auction in IPL 2022.
