CVC Capital Partners acquired new IPL franchise in Ahmedabad for INR 5,625 crore last month.
Consequently, BCCI formed a committee to investigate the matter related to CVC Sports. There were allegations that the company has investments in a UK betting firm.
Meanwhile, a report published in Cricbuzz on Saturday (December 11) suggested that CVC Sports is still awaiting the final clearance from the Indian board.
The report also quoted a BCCI official saying that things are expected to be cleared soon.
“Given the prolonged radio silence from the board, a few franchise officials have sought clarity on the matter and the IPL management is understood to have told them that things could be resolved by next week,” Cricbuzz report stated.
Amid the uncertainty, the RPSG Group, which secured the Lucknow franchise at the IPL team auction, has been reportedly told by the BCCI not to proceed with any recruitments or announcements till the issue has been resolved.
Notably, the two new franchises were initially given time up to December 25 to sign three players outside of the mega auction but it seems that the deadline will now be extended.
