Varun Chakravarthy also thanked the franchise for retaining him.
The India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer was happy to be back in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side after being retained by the franchise on Tuesday (November 30) ahead of the mega IPL 2022 auction.
Iyer also attributed his success and entry into the Indian cricket team to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), saying the KKR played a vital role in him wearing the Indian jersey.
Recently, Iyer made his debut for India in the T20I series against New Zealand. He got the maiden call-up to the Team India squad on the back of his performance in the IPL 2021, wherein he smashed 370 runs at an average of 41.11, and a strike rate of close to 130, and scalped three wickets as well.
Well, apart from Iyer, KKR has also retained Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Varun Chakravarthy for the upcoming IPL 15. He is now looking forward to playing in the packed Eden Gardens stadium.
Iyer said in a video shared by KKR on Twitter: “I am really happy to be back, KKR is the franchise that gave me my big break and introduced me to the world of cricket. I am extremely grateful to KKR management for putting their faith in me.”
He further added, “I feel at home being a part of KKR; the franchise has played a very vital role in me adorning the blues. I am looking forward to playing at Eden gardens, it's always special to be there and to play in front of a packed crowd.”
Meanwhile, the Indian spinner Chakravarthy also thanked the KKR for the support and retaining him ahead of the mega IPL 2022 auction.
He said, “It feels great to be a part of KKR again, the administration has been very supportive and they are a great bunch of people. I am really excited this time as we will be playing at Eden Gardens with all our fans supporting us and I hope that we will make them proud.”
