Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) retained just two players ahead of the 2022 mega auction.

The eight existing franchises were allowed to retain a total of four players (maximum two overseas and up to three Indians) and submit their retention list by November 30, but PBKS chose to keep hold of only Mayank Agarwal and ArshdeepSingh from their IPL squad featuring 29 players.

After KL Rahul decided to part ways with PBKS, the franchise didn’t let go Agarwal, who amassed 400+ runs in the last two seasons. Punjab retained Mayank for 12 crore.

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up 18 wickets from 12 games in the 2021 edition and the uncapped pacer got assured a spot for the next season. PBKS spent INR 4 crore to retain the services of Arshdeep.

Punjab Kings will now enter into auction with the remaining purse of INR 72 crore.
