KL Rahul has been the top scorer for the franchise in the last two IPL seasons.
Punjab Kings' (PBKS) captain KL Rahul may part ways with the franchise ahead of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season. PBKS co-owner Ness Wadia recently addressed the matter and spoke on Rahul's future with the franchise.
Wadia said the franchise isn't over-dependent on Rahul or any other star player. He added that only one player can't make a team and the franchise knows how to adjust and adapt to changes over the years.
"There are many players apart from KL Rahul, firstly. One player does not make up a team, I've always said that. Having said that, every player has a value and one thing I will say is we've learned to adjust and adapt throughout. Any team that hinges too much on one player, that does prove beyond a point a liability", Wadia told NDTV 24x7 during an interview.

IPL 2022 will see an addition of a couple of more teams in the tournament and it will also see a mega-auction before the season. Wadia's statement hints that Rahul may not be available for retention ahead of the mega-auction, but we will have to wait for the official confirmation from the franchise.
"I think KL is exemplary in anything and everything he has done. The way he has fought back after going through a lot of issues two years ago - he's one of the only cricketers who is consistent. But like I said cricket is about 11 team members, not one. As far as the right-to-match or retention (is concerned), whatever happens, we're ready for it. That's the IPL - we've learned to adjust, adapt and go forward and keep smiling," Wadia added.
Rahul has been the top run-scorer for Punjab in the last two seasons. He was the Orange Cap holder in the IPL 2020 with 670 runs and followed it up 626 runs in the last season.
