Venkatesh Iyer has been the star of the IPL 2021 season for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Venkatesh Iyer was among the finds of the IPL 2021 season. Iyer produced a few match-winning knocks for KKR in the second half of the tournament and made it possible for them to reach playoffs despite a terrible outing in the first phase.
In the 10 matches this IPL, Iyer went on to score 370 runs with an average of 41.11. He scored 4 half-centuries with a strike rate of 128.47 which included 37 fours and 14 sixes.
Even in the final of IPL 2021 the youngster scored 32-ball 50 and set the platform for a big run chase. But unfortunately, the batting order of KKR collapsed and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured the title by 27 runs in Dubai.

In a recent interaction with Insidesport, Iyer revealed his first meeting with CSK captain MS Dhoni. “I could not talk to him, I was in complete awe. I just kept watching & observing him on the ground. He is exactly like what everyone describes about him. It was surreal to see him in front of me. He was so calm, so cool.
"From far I can make out how calmly he conducts himself, creates strategies that can change the course of the match. He is rightly called ‘captain cool',” he said.
The 26-year-old is satisfied with his outing in the IPL 2021 and said he would give his best whenever there's an opportunity to play for India.
"I can’t describe, how happy I feel. I have been given this opportunity, I will contribute to the best of my abilities. I don’t know what future holds for me, I will just give my best whenever & in whatever way I am given a chance by the BCCI," Iyer concluded.
