Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting is confident that his team can win the IPL trophy this season, given their recent record in the tournament, as he was upbeat about DC’s chances to beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2021 Qualifier 2 in Sharjah on Wednesday, October 13.

Delhi Capitals (DC) missed out on a great chance to make it to their final appearance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) for the second consecutive time after they suffered a narrow defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Qualifier 1.

Well, DC now will have to beat KKR in Qualifier 2 on Wednesday to reach the IPL 2021 final to be played in Dubai on October 15 and Ponting is confident of his team’s success.

Ponting said in a video shared by DC on Twitter: “I've been in Delhi for three years. First-year I was here, we finished last. Two years ago, we finished third and last year we finished second. I think we can win the IPL, as simple as that. You know, I might go well on record saying that because that's what I am here for. That's what the players are here for.”

He also pointed out that DC is a very different team now than it was two years ago and has played consistently well in the last two years in the tournament. The Aussie also stressed that all the eleven players in the team need to come good on a given day to deliver at its full potential.

The head coach further explained, “This is a different Delhi than it was two years ago. And the reason that it is, is because of what all you guys have brought to this franchise. We adhere to those four words we have said - Attitude, Effort, Commitment, and Care will be better.”

Ponting signed off by saying, “Every great team I've been around, that I've coached or I've played in have shown genuine care for one another. The sign of a great team is not about one or two players, it's about the eleven players on the field, and they all chip in to do what they need to when the team needs them to do it the most.”
