The 52nd match of the IPL 2021 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Abu Dhabi. The match was a chance for RCB to make a claim for the top two spots, while it was a chance for SRH to spoil their party.

Virat Kohli of RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first. SRH made 141/7 with Jason Roy making 44 and Kane Williamson made 31, while Jason Holder (16) and Priyam Garg (15) made contributions as well. Harshal Patel was the pick of RCB bowlers with figures of 3/33.

In reply, Virat Kohli got out for 5 and Dan Christian’s poor run with the bat continued as he was out for 1. Devdutt Padikkal got stuck on the crease and couldn’t get the big shots going as he made 41 in 52 balls with 4 fours only.

Glenn Maxwell upped the ante with 40 in 25 with 2 sixes and 3 fours, while AB de Villiers didn’t get much strike since coming in the 15 over. Maxwell's run-out proved to be the game-changer for SRH as they squeezed the RCB team further.

In the end, it came to 12 runs off 3 balls in the last over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and though De Villiers hit a six, he couldn’t take the team past the finish line as RCB finished on 137/6 and lost the match by 4 runs.
