Kevin Pietersen mentioned that he was sad seeing how the relationship between David Warmer and his IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has deteriorated in the ongoing IPL 2021. He was replaced as captain in the first half of the IPL in India with Kane Williamson and was dropped from the XI as well.

In the second half of the IPL 2021 in UAE, SRH’s woes as a team continued and the left-hander scored 0 and 2 in the two games he played for SRH in UAE. This was it for him in the IPL 2021, as SRH not only dropped him from the playing XI but also left him back in the hotel as they became the first team to be eliminated from playoffs with just 2 wins from 11 matches.

Warner later hinted on social media that he might have played his final game for the franchise this season while replying to a fan's question on Instagram, saying "Unfortunately, won't be again but keep supporting please,” when a fan asked if he was present in the stadium during the game against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.

IPL 2021: SRH's David Warner hints 'all is not well' with a cryptic message on Instagram

Pietersen commented on the issue of Warner getting dropped and expressed his disappointment. Pietersen went on to add that there might be things happening behind the scenes in the squad which no one knows about.

"David Warner just is Sunrisers Hyderabad, so it’s disheartening to see his love affair with the franchise unraveling like this. He has scored so many runs for them over the years, captained them to the title, and has been at the heart and soul of everything that they do. He looks totally disillusioned now, and there are clearly things happening behind the scenes that we don’t know about," KP wrote in his blog of Betway Insider.

Notably, Warner was SRH captain when they won the IPL 2016 title and has been their top batsman for a long time. He is the fifth-highest scorer in the IPL with 5449 runs from 150 games with 4 hundreds and 50 half-centuries. He has amassed more than 500 runs 7 seasons in a row from 2014 to 2020.
