Rajasthan Royals (RR) recorded an amazing 7-wicket win with 15 balls to spare over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 47 of IPL 2021 in Abu Dhabi. This victory also helped RR to stay in contention of a playoff spot.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first hoping for the pitch to get easier later with some dew effect. CSK piled up 189/4 as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed his maiden IPL ton, and remained not out on 101 off 60 balls. He was well supported by Faf du Plessis (25), Moeen Ali (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (32*).

In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 50 off 21 balls and Shivam Dube scored 64* in 42 balls to take RR to victory in what was more or less a ‘do or die’ game for the team. Evin Lewis with a brisk 27 and Samson's 28 also contributed to the chase that was completed in just 17.3 overs.

In the closing stages, New Zealand's Glenn Phillips who scored 14*, created a hilarious moment in the 17th over after the ball slipped out of Sam Curran's hand and went almost to the moon. Phillips hilariously ran after the ball and tried to hit it but could not make it as the umpire signalled a no-ball and free-hit off the next delivery.

Rajasthan Royals now have 10 points from 12 games and will need to win their last two games to have any chance of qualifying. Chennai Super Kings are already in the playoffs with 18 points from 12 games.
