The verbal spat between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan and Delhi Capitals all-rounder R Ashwin in an IPL 2021 match has divided the world. While some backed the Indian cricketer on his stand, many supported the Irishman.

Morgan-Ashwin duo was involved in an altercation during the afternoon game on Tuesday (28 September) as the Chennai-based R Ashwin took a run after the ball was deflected off Rishabh Pant at the non-striking end.

Mumbai Indians (MI) and New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham opined on this issue on Twitter while answering a question asked by a fan, by putting his weight behind England’s white-ball skipper.

@JimmyNeesh whom do u support ? Ash or morgan,” a fan asked to which the Kiwi cricketer replied by writing, “Morgan obviously.

Morgan obviously. https://t.co/pe6bhzhXPo

After seeing Neesham backing Morgan, another fan asked the all-rounder about New Zealand’s silence citing the final of World Cup 2019 where the eventual winners England got a boundary after the ball was deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat.

Because they’re runs if the ball crosses the boundary. But the etiquette of the game is that you don’t run if you’ve caused the deflection. It’s just one of those unspoken spirit of the game things,” New Zealand’s Jimmy Neesham replied.

After receiving a send-off from Tim Southee, R Ashwin had the last laugh by dismissing England’s Eoin Morgan for a 2-ball duck and gave him a send-off as KKR beat DC in the match.
