Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) may take a call of dropping either Sam Curran or Josh Hazlewood and bring in Dwayne Bravo if the West Indian all-rounder is fit for their IPL 2021 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is currently leading the points table with 16 points from 10 games so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). On Thursday, September 30, the franchise will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sharjah, where CSK will need a specialist bowler, according to Manjrekar.

Curran was brilliant in the first half of the IPL 14, but he is yet to make an impression in the second leg of the tournament in the UAE and Manjrekar suggested CSK bring in Bravo at the cost of the England all-rounder against SRH on Thursday. He also said Hazlewood can also make a great impact in Sharjah.

Noteworthy, Bravo has been in brilliant form in the ongoing IPL 2021 in the UAE, taking six wickets in two games for CSK before being rested in their last game as part of the workload management.

Manjrekar told Dafa News, “Bravo didn't play the last game and CSK played Sam Curran in place of him. On Sharjah pitch, a Bravo kind of bowler will be absolutely essential. So if fit, maybe they will have to take that call of dropping either Curran or Josh Hazlewood and bring Bravo.”

The commentator added, “But you need a specialist bowler in Sharjah pitch to survive and Hazlewood is the better bowler. So although I feel Curran is highly talented and absolutely been brilliant in the first half, that is the one change I will like to see.”

He also pointed out that CSK has bowlers who can take the pace off the ball, and that’s where Chennai will have an advantage against SRH in the IPL 14 contest in Sharjah.

Manjrekar signed off by saying, “This is a very unique Indian T20 league where you see Dhoni trusting his pace bowlers and using all the pace bowling resources. It's more normally spin that he uses to win. But this time it is more of a combination and the slower you bowl in Sharjah, the better it is and that is where Chennai has an advantage and they start as favorites.”
