India batter Suryakumar Yadav who was selected in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman owing to his consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has not been able to replicate the same form in IPL 2021.

Brian Lara was unhappy with Suryakumar Yadav’s poor performance as he was dismissed for a first-ball duck by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

The 52-year-old then talked about the ouster of Ishan Kishan as a result of a string of low scores as well as the Mumbai-based Suryakumar's poor run of form and criticized both these cricketers heavily for not showing the right intent.

IPL 2021: Kieron Pollard calls win over PBKS a much-needed spark in the dressing room

Maybe Indian selection (one of the reasons for the dismal showing). A lot of guys maybe are sitting back on their laurels now. They remember the Indian team, something maybe more important,Lara told Star Sports.

But this is where your bread and butter is. Playing the IPL is where you have done it. Looking at Suryakumar, looking at Ishan Kishan, looking at (Saurabh) Tiwary, he looks hungrier than they are,” the left-hander added.

The right-hand batsman Suryakumar Yadav looked really good when the Shikhar Dhawan toured Sri Lanka but when it comes to IPL 2021, the 31-year-old has scores of 0, 8, 5, and 3. Ishan Kishan on the other hand also has dismal scores of 11, 14, and 9 in the UAE.

For me, those guys have to be a little bit more professional now and try to help their team win the tournament. Forget the World Cup, this is your job now to get MI back into the tournament,” the ex-West Indies cricketer concluded.

The Rohit Sharma and Co. will now face Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next match on Saturday (2 October) at Sharjah.
