Pollard bagged Player of the Match award for his 2-8 with ball and 15 (7) with the bat.
While Pollard is known for his big sixes and powerful shots with the bat in hand, this time around, the West Indies all-rounder played a crucial role with the ball by picking up the big wickets of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul in the same over.
The right-handed Kieron Pollard also bagged the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance which included figures of 2-8 and scored 15 (7). Pollard also achieved the feat of 300 T20 wickets, making him the only player in T20 history with 10,000 plus runs and 300 wickets.
“Very important (300th wicket). Bowling's a bit under-rated eh! I just try to do my best whenever I get the opportunity. If needed, Rohit would have thrown the ball for me another over, but sometimes you just quit when you're ahead,” Pollard said after the match.
“For me to get these wickets, I'll take it each and every time. I don't have pace, I don't have spin, I don't have swing, but I have a little bit of brain to get the job done,” the all-rounder further added.
With a brilliant bowling display, MI managed to restrict KL Rahul’s PBKS for just 135/6 which MI chased down with an over to spare and got the vital two, as Pollard feels this win might just spark something special in the dressing room.
“For me, it's just of trying to practice and it's all about practicing and batting according to the situation. For us, it's very important to get these 2 points and hopefully, this will be the much-needed spark in the dressing room,” the swashbuckling right-hander concluded.
The Rohit Sharma and Co. will now be locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (2 October) at Sharjah.
