Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday (27 September), registered their first win of this UAE-leg of IPL 2021 by handing a 7-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 40 played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

SRH brought in England’s Jason Roy in place of David Warner and the opening batter played a brilliant knock of 60 (42) along with skipper Kane Williamson (51*) which ensured the Orange Army chased down RR’s 166 with 9 balls to spare.

The Englishman while talking to his SRH teammate Jason Holder, revealed that this win over RR has done wonders in the SRH camp and will keep them going forward in the upcoming matches of IPL 2021.

I have played quite a bit of T20 cricket, having this kind of first was an incredible feeling. It was a great honour and it was a lovely feeling. To get in and contribute slightly, I couldn't have asked for anything more,Roy told Holder in a video posted on iplt20.com.

I had a good session and I had confidence coming in, it was a case of getting myself in and going on from there. The win is big for our camp,” he added.

The West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder believes this victory over RR was a much-needed win for the team as even though the side is out of the contention for playoffs, they are still playing for pride.

It was much needed, it looks like we have won a game after four months especially after IPL being played in two halves. It is the stage of the tournament where there is not much left for us in terms of qualification, the personal pride is always at stake,” Holder told Roy.

Sunrisers will next lock horns against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday (30 September) at Sharjah.
