KKR registered a superb 7-wicket win over MI on Thursday.
The shifting of IPL 2021 to UAE has been a blessing in disguise for the two-time champions as they have registered two amazing wins over Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) respectively.
With their recent win over MI on Thursday (23 September), the Kolkata-based franchise also grabbed a spot in the top four by taking the fourth position on the points table owing to a good net run-rate.
While there were a lot of positives for KKR in their recent match against the five-time champions, their skipper Eoin Morgan has been fined INR 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate in match 34 of IPL 2021.

“As it was the team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan was fined Rs 24 lakh,” read an official IPL statement.
The rest of the members of the KKR playing XI were each fined lesser of either Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their individual match fee.
As far as the match against the Mumbai-based franchise is concerned, the Eoin Morgan-led franchise firstly restricted MI’s star-studded batting line-up to 155/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
When it came to chasing it down, KKR batters Venkatesh Iyer (53 off 30) along with Rahul Tripathi (74* off 42) shone as they chased down the target with nearly 5 overs to spare and earned vital two points for their side.
After MI, KKR will be taking on MS Dhoni-led three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (September 26) at the same venue in Abu Dhabi.
