Kohli had quit India’s T20I captaincy last week.
Taking to Twitter, the Bangalore-based franchise shared a video in which Kohli confirmed his decision.
“Hello everyone, to the whole RCB family, the amazing fans of Bangalore and to everyone who has a supporter of RCB for so many years, I had an announcement to make. Spoke the squad this evening. Before the second leg of the tournament starts, to inform everyone that this is going to my last leg in the IPL as a captain of RCB,” Kohli can be heard saying in the clip.
The RCB skipper further stated that he took the decision to manage his workload. Virat also made it clear that he wishes to continue playing for RCB as a batsman.
It was only last week that Virat Kohli had quit India’s T20I captaincy, citing workload management as well.
With 5 wins from 7 games, RCB are occupying third place on the IPL 2021 points table. They will resume their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on September 20 in Abu Dhabi.
