A Singapore cricketer will be seen in action in the Indian Premier League for the first time as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday (August 21) signed freelance T20 sensation Tim David for the remainder of IPL 2021, slated to be held in UAE from September 19 to October 15.

David has made a name for himself with his stellar showing across leagues in the world. He recently featured in The Hundred competition for Southern Brave.

Since ICC has given T20 International status to all its 106 member nations, Tim David has played 14 games with 558 runs to his name at a strike rate of 158.51, including four half-centuries.

Overall, he has appeared in 50 T20 games, amassing 1186 runs at a strike rate of 155.84. The appearances also include his participation in the BBL and PSL.

In BBL, he has played for Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers while Lahore Qalandars is his team in the PSL.

Notably, Tim David's father Rod David is also an ex-Singapore international and represented the country in the 1997 ICC World Cup qualifier. While David by birth became a Singapore passport holder, the family migrated back to Australia and he grew up in Perth.

For the second phase of IPL 2021, AB de Villiers and Kyle Jamieson are the certain overseas cricketers in RCB's playing XI. With his impressive record in leagues, Tim David also has a good chance of making the cut and it will be tough for RCB skipper Virat Kohli to ignore him.

Having won 5 out of their 7 games, RCB are placed in the third position on the points table. They will start their campaign in the second phase against KKR on September 20 in Abu Dhabi.
