Iyer had captained DC into the finals of the IPL 2020.
Iyer, who has almost cemented his place in the Indian white-ball team at the no.4 spot, had dislocated his shoulder during the first ODI between India and England in March 2021 and was ruled out of the following IPL 2021 season.
Though he was primed to captain India on their white-ball tour to Sri Lanka, ultimately his fitness ruled him out of that tour as well.
This was a huge blow to the Delhi Capitals, as Iyer had led them into the finals of the tournament in IPL 2020 and this injury resulted in DC naming Rishabh Pant as the new captain.
Pant had done a good job as DC sit pretty at the top spot in the IPL 2021 points table when the tournament was suspended in May due to a COVID outbreak.
However, with him getting back in action, although in nets, is a good sign for the franchise, as he may finally be seen in action in the second half of the IPL 2021, which begins from September 19 onwards in the UAE, a place which evokes good memories for Iyer and DC.
“Aankhein taras gayi thi yeh dekhne ke liye. Can't wait to have you back in full flow, @ShreyasIyer15,” Delhi Capitals wrote while tweeting the video.
