Avesh Khan had dismissed MS Dhoni in DC's opening game of IPL 2021.
Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh Khan grabbed the limelight with his bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). He bagged 14 wickets with an economy of 7.7 in 8 matches before the IPL 2021 got suspended.
Khan picked up the wicket of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni in their first match of the tournament. He returned with a figure of 2/23 in the match which Delhi won by 7 wickets.
Talking about the special wicket of Dhoni, the 24-year-old revealed that DC's newly appointed captain Rishabh Pant planned to bowl short to the CSK skipper. Dhoni was bowled by Khan as he played into his stumps while trying to hit towards the on-side.

“Only a few overs were left, and Pant knew Dhoni would try to hit out. But he also knew that Dhoni was playing after a gap of four months, and it won’t be easy for him. Pant told me to bowl just short of a length. I did just that. Dhoni tried to hit, but got an inside edge and was bowled,” he told The Indian Express.
Khan was helped by Pant from behind the stumps and he said they interacted with signs. “When I was about to start my bowling run-up, I used to look at Pant. At that moment, the batsman is watching only me, and not anyone else. So, if Pant wants me to bowl a yorker, we have a sign for that. If he wants me to bowl wide outside off, I knew from his sign,” he concluded.
The Madhya Pradesh fast bowler has been included in India's squad for England tour as a reserved player. Indian cricketers will complete an eight-day quarantine period in Mumbai before leaving on June 2.
