Ashwin took a break to support his family during the COVID.
The off-spinner played all the matches for the Capitals in the Chennai leg but did not travel to Ahmedabad with the franchise and had announced a break after DC’s super over win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
“I would be taking a break from this year's IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times,” Ashwin had said after the match against SRH.
IPL 2021: DC contingent isolating in the wake of COVID-19 cases at KKR camp – Report
As the situation is improving back home, the Chennai-based spin bowler might join his IPL franchise for the last leg of the IPL. The 34-year-old will have to serve a mandatory 7-day quarantine and return negative COVID-19 reports before rejoining the DC bio-bubble.
From what I hear @ashwinravi99 might be back with @DelhiCapitals for the last leg. Things at home are better is what I hear. So glad if that’s the case and I wish him some respite mentally. It will be great to see him back. We need leaders like him.
