Shubman Gill has amassed only 132 runs in the seven matches in IPL 14.
Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen says that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Shubman Gill needs to be a little bit busy at the crease as so far in IPL 2021 he seems to be quite lazy out in the middle.
Shubham Gill hasn’t had an impressive IPL 14 so far. In the seven matches, the 21-year-old has amassed only 132 runs and is one of the main reasons that the Eoin Morgan-led side are inconsistent in their performance.
Gill, however, was the leading run-scorer for KKR in IPL 2020 as he scored 440 runs at a decent strike rate of 117.96 in the 14 matches he played.
After his heroics in the Australian tour down under, the young-opener hasn’t been able to replicate the same form and has found himself under some flak.

Talking about the same, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen said that he loves watching Shubman Gill as a player but he needs to get a little bit busy at the crease as he seems to be lazy.
"Let's talk a little bit about Shubman Gill because I think that guy is so good. I absolutely love him as a player. I've been watching him quite closely recently and I think Gill needs to get a little busy at the crease. If he can do that, he can then get himself going. He just seems so lazy," Kevin Pietersen told Star Sports.
Pietersen said that Gill was being 'too lazy' as a batsman in the tournament. He further advised him to the be more 'proactive' and take the game on the upcoming matches.
"Some of his dismissals. Some of his dismissals are really low and it looks like he doesn't really fit the speed of the game. You can get as a batter very lazy and I think he's too lazy at the moment. He's too accommodating.
“I'd just like him to get a little bit busier and more proactive. Then he won't miss those balls on his legs and start hitting them. I want to see purpose when he bats," he said.
With 43 runs in the last match against Delhi Capitals (DC), the young swashbuckling batsman seemed to be getting his mojo back and KKR would hope he’d continue from there as he will be vital for their chances going ahead into the tournament.
