Delhi Capitals’ (DC) bowler Lalit Yadav said contributing to the team's cause has helped him grow in confidence after his impressive bowling against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) contest in Ahmedabad on Thursday (April 29).

Apart from Prithvi Shaw (82 runs off 41 balls), Yadav was also among the impressive performers for Delhi Capitals (DC) in their 7 wickets win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 14 game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

The 24-year-old finished with figures of 2/13 in his three overs, taking the all-important wicket of KKR skipper Eoin Morgan and pinch-hitter Sunil Narine, both for ducks, to help DC beat KKR in Ahmedabad.

Lalit Yadav said in the post-match virtual press conference: “Confidence increases when you are able to contribute to the side's cause. Cricket is all about how we think and how positive one can remain.”

The all-rounder further said playing alongside some of the big boys and domestic teammates in the team also helped him a lot as they create a comfortable atmosphere in the dressing room.

He continued, “I have played domestic cricket for Delhi, there are some Delhi players in this franchise like Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Shikhar Dhawan. I have a good bonding with them; we have played together in domestic cricket so that is working well for me in this franchise.”

On being asked about how DC looked to keep dangerous Andre Russell quiet on Thursday, Lalit said: “We had a plan that we would not bowl spinners much in front of Andre Russell. We had a plan of bowling Ishant, Rabada, and Avesh to him and implementing bouncers and yorkers against him.”

He wants to keep improving his batting to contribute with the bat for the DC whenever called upon by the team management in the ongoing IPL 14.

Yadav signed off by saying, “I am always thinking about how I can express myself with the bat. I am always hoping that my batting improves day by day. It would be nice if I can develop my batting.”
