Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami has made his contribution towards India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by donating Rs. 90,000 to provide oxygen supplies for the patients suffering from the deadly virus.

India has been badly hit by the second wave of the Coronavirus with the country recording over 3.5 lakh COVID-19 cases per day and more than 2,000 deaths for the past three days.

Goswami became the latest cricketer to have made a donation to India in its fight against the Coronavirus outbreak after Kolkata Knight Riders and Australia pacer Pat Cummins and former Australian pacer and commentator Brett Lee – both are currently in India for the ongoing IPL 2021.

Cummins donated $ 50,000 “specifically to purchase oxygen supplies for India’s hospitals” to PM Cares Fund, while Lee donated one Bitcoin (US$ 55,000 approximately) to “Crypto Relief to help with the purchase of oxygen supplies” in India.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has contributed to a charitable organization named Donatekart and the organization took to social media to thank the 31-year-old cricketer for his generous donation.

Donekart wrote on Twitter: “Thanks a lot @shreevats1 for your generous contribution of Rs 90,000 to provide oxygen supplies in this hour of need.”

Goswami also urged people to make donations and help in whichever way possible towards India's fight against the dangerous COVID-19 pandemic which has brought the whole country on its knees.

He replied, “Happy to help, please donate and reach out :) we are in this together.”

Earlier, the cricketer took to Twitter to tell his fan about “verified/legit NGOs” such as the Hemkunt Foundation Universal Presence in New Delhi and informed that donations can be made via Donatekart, which is a “transparent online donation platform for in-kind to charities” with over 5 lakh donors, and have already provided with “75 Crores Channelized to 100+ NGOs.”

Goswami had tweeted, “Several verified/legit NGOs like the @Hemkunt_Fdn are doing their bit during this crisis, @donatekart helps you to reach them, I have done my bit. Requesting people who can afford please reach out and help as much as you can. We are in this together.”
