Mohammed Siraj defended 14 runs in the final over for RCB.
Invited to bat first, RCB posted 171/5 in 20 overs on the back of AB de Villiers’ jaw-dropping 75 not out off 42 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes. Rajat Patidar was another notable contributor with 22-ball 31.
Avesh Khan (1-24) and Ishant Sharma (1-26) were the stand-out bowlers for Delhi, claiming one wicket each and also returned with the economical figures.
In reply, DC were struggling at 92/4 after 12.4 overs before skipper Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer produced game-changing knocks to bring the team back in the contest.
In particular, Hetmyer was severe on the RCB bowlers as he completed his fifty in just 23 deliveries. The duo of Pant and Hetmyer smashed Kyle Jamieson for 21 runs in the 18th over and followed it with 11 runs in the penultimate over against Harshal Patel.
Needing 14 runs in the final over, DC managed four runs from the first four balls. While Pant hit Mohammed Siraj for consecutive boundaries in the fifth and sixth delivery, Delhi Capitals still fell one run short of the target.
Twitterverse was buzzing with cricket experts sharing their opinions on the nail-biting finish.
