Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 22nd match of the IPL 2021 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first, keeping the dew in mind.

DC brought in Ishant Sharma for R Ashwin, while RCB made two changes- Daniel Sams and Rajat Patidar came in.

The opening partnership of Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli failed to recreate their magic, with both falling on RCB’s score of 30 in the 5th over. Padikkal made 17 and fell to Ishant Sharma, while Kohli fell for 12 to Avesh Khan.

Rajat Patidar (31, 2 sixes) and Glenn Maxwell (25, 2 sixes, 1 four) tried to construct a partnership, but Akshar got rid of Patidar and earlier, Maxwell fell to Amit Mishra, leaving RCB 114/4. Then everything depended on AB de Villiers and he singlehandedly took RCB to a respectable total.

During the course of his innings, AB de Villiers also completed 5,000 runs in his IPL career. He ended up making 75* in 42 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes to his name as RCB finished 20 overs on 171/5.

Twitterverse was all praises for AB de Villiers’ amazing knock and lauded him on Twitter.
