Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Kl Rahul after suffering a humiliating loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in an IPL 2021 encounter said that his side scored 10-15 runs short.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and decided to bat. The KL Rahul side failed to make the most of the advantage.

Their top order failed to score runs while the middle order couldn’t convert their starts as SRH bowlers were all over their batsmen and restricted them to a total of 120 runs in match 14 of IPL 14.

Chasing the target SRH openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were off the flyer and scored 73 runs for the first wicket partnership. After the wicket of skipper, the Englishman along with Kane Williamson steadied the innings and registered their first win of the season.

While talking about the loss after the match, PBKS skipper KL Rahul said that they were 10-15 runs short and it was hard for them to adapt to the conditions in Chennai.

"We knew what to expect here. Tried to get used to the conditions as quickly as we can. We were 10-15 short on this pitch. Bowlers tried very hard, but it's very hard coming into these conditions and adapting quickly," KL Rahul said during the post-match presentation.

Rahul said that they expected SRH to come hard at them and was waiting for one of their openers to get out to put pressure on them as they wanted to take the game as deep as possible.

"Hindsight is a beautiful thing. We knew they were going to come hard. It's tricky to have attacking fields. Was waiting for one of them to get out and then put pressure. Wanted to take the game as deep as possible,” he said.

KL Rahul further said that now every game is important for them and hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and keep getting better.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't get wickets in the middle and that cost us. Every game is important for us and we've been in that position. It's not a bad position to be in. Hopefully, learn from our mistakes and keep getting better," he concluded.

With the 9-wicket loss against SRH, PBKS slipped to the last position in the points table. They will next face defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 23.
