CSK bundled out KKR for 202 after posting 220 on the board.
Invited to bat first, CSK piled up a massive 220/3 in 20 overs on the back of Faf du Plessis’ unbeaten 95 off 60 balls and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 42-ball 64.
Amid the carnage, Varun Chakravarthy returned with the impressive bowling figures for KKR, claiming a wicket by conceding 27 runs in his four overs.
In reply, KKR got off to a disastrous start, losing half their side for just 31 runs. Deepak Chahar was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball as he dismissed four top-order batsmen cheaply.
Afterwards, Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell added 81 runs for the sixth wicket to bail the team out of trouble. In fact, Russell (54 off 22 balls) was looking in a devastating mood before Sam Curran cut short his stay at the crease.
Karthik played a handy knock of 24-ball 40 while Pat Cummins took everyone by surprise with his unbeaten 66 off 34 balls but CSK bowlers bundled out KKR for 202 in 19.1 overs, earning a convincing 18-run victory.
Chahar returned with the figures of 4-29 whereas Lungi Ngidi claimed 3 for 28 in his four overs for CSK.
Cricket fraternity lauded the CSK players for holding their nerves despite Russell and Cummins' heroics with the bat.
