Chahar was expensive in the first match against Delhi Capitals, but he came back strong against Punjab Kings.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Deepak Chahar broke Punjab Kings' (PBKS) back with his destructive spell on Friday (April 16). He picked up four wickets and gave away just 13 runs with the new ball.
Punjab were five down for only 26 runs in the seventh over of their innings; it was also the last over of Chahar's four-over quota. After the match, he talked about his performance in a chat with teammate Shardul Thakur.
The CSK speedster also shared a hilarious message he received on social media after their defeat in the first match. Super Kings had lost against Delhi Capitals and Chahar conceded 36 runs in 4 overs without a wicket.

"I got a message on social media that bhai you are a very good bowler but don't play the next game. So, the expectations are very high here and you have to perform in every match. So, it was for that man, if I wouldn't play this match this performance would have never come", said Chahar in a video posted on IPL's official website.
Shardul continued, "Support the players as they do a lot of hard work. Keeper showering the love on us and we will continue to do our best."
Talking about his brilliant display of bowling with the new ball against Punjab, Chahar said, "It was an important spell for me. After losing the first game it was important to have the start like this. It was an important match for us to win. I'm happy that I contributed to the victory."
"After this performance, I will say that this is one of my favourite grounds. There was help from the wicket in the starting. It was not so in the last match on this ground. But today there was help from the wicket," he added.
Shardul asked Chahar about his bowling plans and the latter revealed they had discussed the fielding placement after seeing high-scoring matches at Wankhede Stadium. "The last few matches on this ground were high-scoring so we discussed various field plans according to the each over in the meetings. As a bowler, it is difficult to pick whether to bowl on plan A or bowl defensively but today plan B, C were not required."
Punjab had no firepower left after losing half of the side inside first seven overs. Shahrukh Khan scored 47 runs and took Punjab's total to 106/8 in 20 overs. His knock gave the KL Rahul-led side something to defend.
However, CSK easily chased down the target with 26 balls to spare and won the match by 6 wickets.
