The 8th match of the IPL 2021 saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision proved to spot on as CSK got a brilliant start with the ball.

Deepak Chahar blew away the PBKS top order and received some assistance from Ravindra Jadeja as well.

Apart from KL Rahul, who was brilliantly run out by Ravindra Jadeja for 5, Chahar accounted for the remaining four of the five PBKS wickets which fell in the first six overs. He got Mayank Agarwal out for a duck in the first over and then had Chris Gayle (10) caught by Jadeja at backward point.

He continued his reign of terror, as Nicholas Pooran went back for a duck, caught by Thakur off Chahar, and then Deepak Hooda fell for a slow ball for 10 runs.

Chahar completed his 4 overs in a go and his figures were 4/13 with one maiden over and 18 dot balls in all. Sam Curran picked 1/12 in 3 overs, while Ali and Bravo picked one wicket each as well.

PBKS couldn’t recover from being reduced to 26/5 in 6.2 overs and only Shahrukh Khan (47 in 36 balls, 2x6s, 4x4s) managed to put some score on the board.

Jhye Richardson also added 15 runs before being bowled by Moeen Ali and PBKS ended their 20 overs on 106/8.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for Deepak Chahar, whose amazingly bowling display put CKS in a winning position right from the start. They all lauded him on Twitter and we have some best tweets for you.
