IPL 2021: No doubt now SRH will drop Manish Pandey from their XI, says Ajay Jadeja

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Manish Pandey might have been scoring runs for his side, but these runs are hurting the franchise more than helping them, thanks to his low strike rate in the ongoing 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

On April 14, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost their second game in the ongoing IPL 2021 to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs, and Manish Pandey’s slow innings – 38 runs off 39 balls at a strike rate of 97 – in the match was one of the reasons for the team’s disappointing defeat in Chennai.

In the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders last week, the right-hander played an unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 44 balls at a strike rate of 138.64 in a losing cause for the SRH in Chennai.

Following SRH’s two consecutive defeats in the ongoing IPL 14, many including former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra and Ashish Nehra, have been questioning Pandey’s strike rate and this is hurting the franchise in the tournament and now another former cricket Ajay Jadeja felt the same.

The problem with Pandey isn’t only his strike rate, but also he fails to kick on even after being set in the ongoing lucrative T20 league and Jadeja believes that the 31-year-old will be dropped from SRH’s Playing XI in the upcoming games.

He further said the team will certainly look for “solid players” who can finish the games, as they are currently lying at the 7th position in the IPL 2021 points table.

Jadeja told Cricbuzz on Thursday (April 15): “I think there will be a rethink now. We were talking about Williamson before. In low-scoring matches, his value is redoubled.”

He signed off by saying, “Now they will look for solid players who can finish games after getting settled. And I have no doubt that Manish Pandey might not play in the 11 from now on. You will witness some changes in this team and that’s natural as well.”

Noteworthy, SRH will next face Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 14 on Saturday (April 17) in Chennai.
