The 6th match of the IPL 2021 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in what was the second match for both the team, played at the Chepauk in Chennai. RCB had won their first match, while SRH was coming off a loss.
David Warner won the toss and chose to bowl first. SRH made two changes in their playing XI, bringing in Jason Holder for Mohammad Nabi and leaving Sandeep Sharma out for Shahbaz Nadeem. RCB made one change, bringing in Devdutt Padikkal for Rajat Patidar.
Rashid Khan (2/18) and Jason Holder (3/30) ran through RCB batting despite them having a good start. Virat Kohli made 33, while none of the other batsmen went past 14 runs. However, the best knock came from Glenn Maxwell, who made 59 in 41 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
His knock was the reason RCB put on 149/8 in 20 overs.
The cricket fraternity lauded Maxwell, who scored his first IPL fifty since 2016 edition, for his knock on Twitter.
Lovely innings by @Gmaxi_32 to take the @RCBTweets to a very good total on this wicket! The chase is going to be interesting as this wicket is not to different from last night! Not going to be an easy chase for @SunRisers ! #SRHvRCB#IPL2021
What a terrific innings from @Gmaxi_32, @SunRisers pacers leaking runs in the death overs! It’s Mediocre total but still enough for the bowlers to give it a shot. @RCBTweets#RCBvsSRH#IPL2021
RCB have a defendable score. Would have wanted 12-15 runs more after batting so well for the first half of the innings, but after the collapse, recovery was smart. Maxwell pulling weight
