Krishna also said Chennai wicket was slow and tough for the pacers to bowl on Sunday.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast-bowler Prasidh Krishna said the Chepauk pitch was slow and had not much to offer for the pacers, but he tried his best to get the pace up and hit off a length and his efforts eventually paid off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (April 11).
On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs in their opening game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) on the back of Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi's knocks of 80 and 53 respectively followed by a spirited bowling performance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
While Pat Cummins, Andre Russell, and Shakib-Al-Hasan each returned with one wicket, Krishna returned with impressive figures of 2/35 in his four overs, including the key wicket of SRH captain David Warner to help KKR beat the 2016 IPL winners to kick start the season on winning note in Chennai on Sunday.
After the game, Krishna said having a game time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, as well as, having coming off a good series against England really help him on Sunday, saying his confidence is high and looking forward to contributing further for his team in the ongoing IPL 14.
He also said KKR has some of the biggest hitters at their side and he is fortunate that he does not have to bowl against them the IPL while hailing team atmosphere, saying all the players are down to earth.
Prasidh told host broadcaster Star Sports: “I was trying my best to get the pace up. There wasn't much in the wicket and I had to put in something to get the ball to the keeper. We had a very good 10-day camp to get everyone into good nick and it's nice that everyone has chipped in. The wicket was slow, not easy to hit off a length which I realized while bowling, and they (Rana and Tripathi) did really well.”
He concluded, “Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali, and all those games have gotten me game time and helped me with my performances. Confidence is upbeat now because I am coming off a good series and I hope to contribute further for my team. Some of the biggest hitters are in my side, so I am quite fortunate. But all the players are down to earth and it's really nice being part of this team.”
